AUGUST 20 – AUGUST 24 IN DALLAS, TEXAS

Free Sports and Entertainment Camp Empowers Dallas Youth with Focus on Wellness Education and Life Skills Development

New York, NY– Boost Mobile announced today that for the first time ever, it will bring the ‘Building Leaders for Tomorrow’ (BLFT) Summerscope camp to Dallas with the help of Dallas Mavericks’ superstar Jason Terry.  The free, week-long sports and entertainment program for youth ages 11 to 17 not only features motivational messages from industry notables and celebrities, but also incorporates wellness education and life skills development as part of the camp curriculum.

‘Building Leaders for Tomorrow’ Summerscope will take place Monday, August 20 through Friday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the West Dallas Community Church (2215 Canada Drive). Terry will be on hand to promote self-esteem, self-discipline and sportsmanship via direct interaction with young hopefuls looking to build their game – both on and off the court.

“We are excited to bring ‘Building Leaders for Tomorrow’ to Dallas this year, especially with the support of an outstanding NBA player like Jason Terry,” says Danielle Alvarez, community relations manager, Boost Mobile.  “His dedicated efforts to give back to underserved youth in the community mirrors Boost Mobile’s mission to help inspire young people to achieve greatness.”  Terry will also be honored as a 2007 ‘Building Leaders for Tomorrow’ Image Leader in Sports for his work with his Jason Terry Foundation to provide inner city youth with the opportunity to further their education beyond high school. Mayor Tom Leppert will present Jason Terry with the award on Tuesday, August 21 at 10:30a.m. at the West Dallas Community Church.

Some of today’s hottest celebrities and sports figures have participated as guest speakers and performers in recent years, including rapper/actress Eve, Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child, R&B recording artist Mario, former Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash, NBA superstars Allan Houston, Stephon Marbury, Michael Jordan and more.  This year, Building Leaders for Tomorrow will include interactive workshops from Hip Hop 4 Life that engage, educate and empower youth to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Boost Mobile’s ‘Building Leaders for Tomorrow’ initiative also includes the BLFT Basketball Tournament which serves as the evening counterpart to the Summerscope Youth Camp.  The BLFT tournament is open to Dallas males ages 18 to 25, who must participate in resume writing workshops, life skills training seminars and more in order to compete in the week-long series of tournaments.

Additional event sponsors include K104 Radio, Coca-Cola and Cleveland-based Nervism Clothing.
